Van Persie to sign £240,000-a-week Fenerbahce deal after quitting Manchester United

Robin van Persie is set to fly to Istanbul this weekend to complete his move from Manchester United to Fenerbache.

The two clubs opened talks yesterday with the Turks hopeful of negotiating a £4.7million fee after agreeing personal terms of a £240,000-a-week with Van Persie for a three-year contract - with the option of a 12-month extension.

United still have to agree a pay-off with Van Persie for the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

A Federal High Court, sitting in Kano, yesterday, ordered former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, accused of fraud, remanded in prison custody in Kano till September 28.

The former governor is facing a 28-count charge alongside his two sons, and one Wada Abubakar in connection with alleged corruption and money laundering that amounted to over N1.35 billion.
