►Don't succumb to Obasanjo plan to replace Vice President.
A group known as “Patriotic Northern Coalition for Equity and Justice” has advised President Goodluck Jonathan not to succumb to pressure by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to replace Vice President Namadi Sambo with Jigawa state Governor Sule Lamido in the forthcoming general elections.
The group alleged that the move is a calculated attempt to put the unity of the country at the risk of a selfish individual who has plundered the nation into its present predicaments.
President of the group, Babangida Sule Manchok who made this known at a press conference in Bauchi urged Jonathan to tread with caution in replacing Namadi with Governor Sule Lamido following Obasanjo’s pleas.
According to him, “Obasanjo’s moves to plant Sule Lamido as Vice president come 2015 has some political under tones. What the former president is aiming at is to regain his lost political relevance. He is so desperate that he wants to use his errand boys as a tool against Jonathan transformation agenda”.
He noted that Governor Lamido cannot be compared with Namamdi in terms of political popularity and acceptability in the North-East lamenting the way Chief Obasanjo has been persecuting President Jonathan in his desperation to plant his loyalists at the helm of affairs of the country .
According to him, “Northern youths are conscious of the need for the unity of Nigeria by supporting Jonathan/Namadi continuity come 2015. However, it is regrettable that Sule Lamido has allowed himself to be used as a tool of disunity against the present administration of Jonathan following his past media utterances”.
The group further cautioned President Jonathan to be careful while dinning and winning with political betrayers as any attempt to substitute Namadi may spell doom for the ruling PDP in the country and President Jonathan.
