Following his absence, some stakeholders commenced campaign for the appointment of an acting Vice Chancellor, who will run the affairs of the university until November when the tenure of the VC expires.
Chat212learnt that the Vice-Chancellor’s appearance at the office yesterday shocked many, who thought he may have been incapacitated due to the illness.
Professor Oshodin presided over the meeting of Appointment and Promotion of Board of the University, where members of the management staff sang and praised God for his return.
Meanwhile, members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU; National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT and Non Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU, told newsmen that the call for the Vice Chancellor’s removal was selfish and driven by greed.
They said it “smacks of mischief for anybody to claim that the absence of the Vice Chancellor had slowed down activities within the university.”
Chairman of SSANU, Mr. John Alile, in company of acting Chairman of NASU, Mr. Joel Idonije and NASU Chairman, Mr. Sunday Momoh, said in the absence of Oshodin, UNIBEN completed its first semester, resumed for second semester, mobilised students for National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, and hosted the 11th Edition of Nigerian Universities Staff Sports Asso-ciation games among others.
