Manchester United have won the race to sign Radamel Falcao from Monaco
on a one-year loan. The striker will cost the Old Trafford club
£12million.
Man United have reportedly agreed a £51m deal to sign AS Monaco forward Radamel Falcao according to the Metro.
The 28 year old Colombian had been strongly linked with interest from Man City and Arsenal but it’s Louis van Gaal who has apparently won the race to capture the South American goal machine.
This source claims that a four year contract has been agreed with the former FC Porto and Atletico Madrid man, a salary offer that will apparently make the marksman the highest paid player in the Premier League.
A move for Falcao is perhaps a wise one to make given recent reports of Robin Van Persie’s ongoing injury issues and Louis van Gaal is actively looking to sell both Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck which would help clear the way for his arrival.
An offer of £51m is around the same fee as Ligue 1 side AS Monaco paid for Falcao a year ago, a move that follows four successful seasons in Portugal and Spain.
Falcao racked up 72 goals in 87 appearances at FC Porto, helping the Estádio do Dragão side to Primeira Liga and Europa League titles among a host of honours before moving to the Spanish capital where the powerful forward scored 70 goals in 91 appearances before moving to the Stade Louis II.
A move for Falcao would see Man United’s summer spending edge nearer to £200m with the Premier League side having already spent over £130m to bring in Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo and Angel di Maria.
