Lagos declares 3,000 intending pilgrims Ebola free

►Lagos State Government, yesterday, commenced airlifting of over 3,000 intending pilgrims from the state to Saudi-Arabia for the 2014 Hajj exercise after successfully passing the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, test.

►Chairman of the Lagos State Muslims Board, Dr. AbdulKabir Paramole, who disclosed this said, none of the pilgrims failed the deadly Ebola test and other medical test as required by the authorities.

According to Paramole, on its inaugural flight, 510 intending pilgrims were airlifted from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, early Sunday morning, exactly 5.09 am.

“The intending pilgrims were thoroughly, screened for the Ebola Virus Disease, but thank be to Allah, they all came out clean. They left aboard Max Airline,” he affirmed.

He however, disclosed that a total of 3082 pilgrims are scheduled to perform this year’s holy pilgrim from Lagos to Mecca.

Paramole added that as at press time, a total of 1020 pilgrims had been airlifted in first and second batches “while the third batch from Epe, Eti-Osa and Ifako-Ijaiye will be leaving the shores of Nigeria later today. (yesterday).

“The first two flights headed for Medina. The pilgrims are expected back in the country by the October 15th, 2014, while a total of six flights have been scheduled to take the pilgrims to and fro.” Paramole stated.
