Speaking yesterday at Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat, Abuja, when he received the former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel back to the family of PDP, Muazu admitted that
mistakes were made in the past and Obasanjo should come and lead the party, adding that the leader of the party, President Goodluck Jonathan was also waiting eagerly for him to come back to the party.
Also yesterday, Chairman, South West PDP integration committee and Senate President, Senator David Mark and Daniel took turn to apologise to the former Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT of the party.
Senator Mark, who hailed Obasanjo and tendered an unreserved apology to him, stressed that the PDP family needed him so much if the PDP must be strong especially in the zone and Nigeria in particular, adding, “Daniel is right that older persons are always right.
All of us in the PDP are begging Baba to forgive us even if he is annoyed with us. We truly apologise to him. He should forgive us because he cannot throw us away; He will have to forgive us and make sure we are not sheep without shepherd”.
Mark, however, asked the party leadership to ensure that the principle of fairness and equality was applied to keep the enlarged PDP family intact, adding that there must be a level playing field for all aspirants across the country.
Earlier, former governor Gbenga Daniel, who led members of Labour Party, LP back to PDP, however apologised for any wrong done to Obasanjo in the party, pleading that he should not abandon the house he built. He said, “I have returned to my party. There is no situation where there are no differences, these differences have been settled.
“If Labour Party is actually strong in Ogun State, can it swallow PDP? It is the big fish that swallows the small fish and today PDP has swallowed Labour Party.”
Daniel, who was at the PDP secretariat with Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko and other members of Labour Party said “We have learnt our lesson. Goodluck Jonathan has performed and this goodluck of our time must be supported. We demand for a level playing field.
“What we are talking about is automatic waiver and this issue of automatic waiver has been guaranteed. I Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun state for eight years is now back to the PDP.”
Speaking further on the return of Daniel to PDP, Muazu, who accepted his request for automatic waivers for all those defecting to the PDP, however warned that all defecting members must apply for the waivers, adding that this does not mean automatic ticket as that was between the aspirants and their God.
Muazu continued, “I want to join OGD, I want to join my dear senior brother and indeed all the teeming members here to very sincerely apologise to our leader, to our baba, my baba, General Olusegun Obasanjo to forgive us. We cannot continue. I know he has been very prayerful. In the Villa, I know he used to pray every morning. Very early, 5:30 to 6am, he was praying.
And I know he keeps on praying all the time. As we say in our Lord’s Prayer: “Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who trespass against us”.
“Baba, you have to forgive us. I beg you in the name of the almighty God, so that you too are forgiven. We are your children. We are making mistakes, we have made mistakes, we have apologised, we will not agree even if you want to throw the baby with the bath water, the baby will not go with you.
”So, please baba, we apologise. Come and lead us. Even the president is waiting for you. Come and lead us. You are our leader, we appreciate you, we thank you for your leadership. We thank you for your courage. And we assure you that by the grace of God, we are all good boys and girls. “
