Wife bathes husband with acid in Enugu

A housewife in Enugu State has allegedly bathed her husband with a substance suspected to be acid during a serious quarrel over an unresolved issue.

The woman (names withheld) was reported to have fled her home after committing the dastardly act.

State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said investigations had commenced in full scale to establish the circumstances surrounding the act.

He added that efforts had also been intensified to ensure that the suspect is arrested and brought to book.

“The suspect and victim are all living in the same compound until the unfortunate incident which counfounded sympathizers.

“It was gathered that on the said day, October 21st, in their premises at Umuezebi Nsukka around 7pm, suspect had allegedly poured a corrosive liquid substance believed to be acid on the 30-year-old victim, identified as Onah Victor, over an unresolved issue between the victim and the suspect.”

“The suspect, after allegedly bathing his victim with the said substance, fled the scene, leaving the victim unconscious who was later rushed to St. Anthony’s Hospital Obeachara Nsukka where he is currently receiving treatment,” said the PPRO.
