APC VP Osinbajo said Nigeria being broke is not D main problem but rather is the way it is being run and corruption.

Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said being broke is not Nigeria’s main problem but rather is the way it is being run and corruption.
In a recent interview with Sahara Reporters, Osinbajo said the first thing the APC will do if they emerge winners at March 28 presidential elections, is to block corruption.

Asked if he was prepared to become the president of Nigeria should anything bad happen to Buhari (like death) if he wins the elections, Osinbajo said: “I think that I’m certainly prepared to serve the nation in whatever capacity I’m elected to, or find myself in and I think that one of the key things we are presenting to the nation is a set of policies not individual. Gen buhari himself has made it clear that he is coming on a platform and this platform is a platform of change. We are looking at how to turn the direction of our country around.”

Also asked if anything happens to the president and he (Osinbajo) becomes president, how the north would react considering the uncompleted term of Yar’Adua, he replied: “What would upset anyone is if for any reason there is some unfairness or injustice in the way that anyone were to emerge whether it is by election or by succession. Nigerians are very fair minded people and what they would like to see is a measure of justice, a measure of fairness and a level playing field. That is what will condition response whatever that response will be.”

In about a week, Nigerians would be heading to the polls to choose who will rule them for the next four years. The political campaigns have been filled with hate speeches, each party trying to slander the other and score cheap political points.

The present administration has been accused of corruption on countless occasions. On March 10, in Adamawa, Osinbajo had noted that corruption is at the root of all the troubles bedeviling Nigeria and may be the cause for the escalation of Boko Haram insurgency.

The APC has promised Nigerian to stop corruption if elected into power.

However, wife of the President, Patience Jonathan during a PDP women’s presidential rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, said the promises by the APC to fight corruption were “all lies”.
