PDP, APC Plan Grand Rallies In Abuja

All roads lead to Abuja as the two top parties going into the 2015 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), take their presidential campaigns to the Federal Capital Territory in their last dash to woo supporters ahead of the March 28 election.
Having concluded presidential campaigns in most states in the country, the PDP and the APC have concluded plans to hold their grand rallies in Abuja.

It will be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP was in Damaturu, Yobe state, yesterday concluding his tour of the 36 states of the country while the APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari has been to 35 states of the country, with the exception of Yobe.

Daily Trust reports that the PDP presidential campaign committee is planning to hold the Abuja rally tomorrow Saturday, March 21, barring any shift in the election date.

According to a source who spoke to the media outfit, all arrangements have been concluded for the ruling party to hold its rally tomorrow but that the picture would be clearer by today.

The APC on the other hand said it is planning for next week but is yet to fix a date.

The spokesman of the Buhari campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu, said that “No date has been fixed yet but we are planning ahead of that” .

The next presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria are scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

While the INEC has launched a nationwide campaign to encourage voters’ active participation in the electoral process and to ensure they are well informed, it should be noted that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria entitles the president to run for a maximum of two consecutive four-year terms.
