Vice President Namadi Sambo on Sunday, March 22, addressed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chances of victory going into the much anticipated March 28 election which is just five days away.
Namadi Sambo, who met with women and youth groups in continuation of consultations to further woo support for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of Saturday’s election, expressed full confidence of an all round victory for the PDP.
Speaking at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua indoor hall at the Murtala Square Kaduna, Sambo tasked the women and youth on the need to vote for President Jonathan and the PDP candidates roundly.
He enumerated the achievements of President Jonathan, stressing that the President had done creditably well to deserve continuity to consolidate on the successes recorded so far.
He said: “PDP had maintained power for about 16 years with good records of performance and it would be difficult for the opposition party to defeat the party during the elections”.
He also added that there were plans to engage over two million women and youths annually through SURE-P and the agricultural sector.
Namadi Sambo who earlier addressed the issue of the card readers, said that while his party was not against the use of the machine, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says will help reduce vote fraud, his party was concerned whether the decision is backed by law and about the possibility of many Nigerians being disenfranchised.
