First female Gov may emerge as APC takes lead in Taraba

Many Nigerians thought voters in Taraba state would make history by electing the nation's first female governor. But Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, known as "Mama Taraba" by her supporters, lost to her main challenger, Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Premium Times in Nigeria said Tuesday.
The governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress in Taraba state Sen. Aisha Jumei Al-hasan has taken over a slide lead of the governorship election count ahead of PDP candidate Dickson Ishaku as more local government areas submits their results.
If she polls more votes and wins the election she will become the first female governor in Nigeria.

APC candidate gained huge number of votes from Gasol local government area to overtake the PDP which was initially leading.
