Boko Haram Terrorists kill 145 in multiple Borno attacks

Boko Haram terrorists have killed at least 145 people in multiple attacks carried out in Borno State communities, reports say.

The attacks occurred on Tuesday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in the Monguno and Kukawa Local Government Areas of the state.

48 men were said to have been killed on Tuesday at Musarram village in Monguno while on Wednesday, another 97 people were killed in Kukawa, a town on the border with Niger Republic.

“A total of 48 males died on the spot while 17 others escaped with serious injuries,” a fleeing resident, Idi Isa told Punch on Thursday, July 2.

The incident was also confirmed by the House of Representatives members representing the area, Muhammed Tahir Monguno.

“I received the sad news yesterday (Wednesday) that Boko Haram terrorists had attacked some communities near Monguno. Since their dislodgment from the Sambisa Forest, many Boko Haram terrorists had relocated to areas around Monguno where they have been picking on hapless villagers and killing residents there,” Monguno said.

“On Tuesday, the terrorists attacked the twin villages of Mussaram I and Mussaram II in the night. They went there when the villagers were resting after the day’s fasting and assembled them before opening fire on them,” he added.

“The terrorists first descended on Muslim worshippers in various mosques who were observing the Magrib prayers shortly after breaking their fast,” another resident, Abba Modu said of the attack on Kukawa.

They equally proceeded to houses and shot indiscriminately at women who were preparing food,” he added.

A local vigilante member, Modu Kurawa, said that the attack went on for four hours without the intervention of the military.

Neither attack has been confirmed by the relevant security authorities.
