Dogara Speaks About Meeting With President Buhari
The Speaker of House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara gives details about his supposed meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on July 1.
He has denied rumors that he was invited to the meeting Buhari had with Reps members loyal to Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
It would be recalled that information emerged before the meeting that Buhari would meet with Dogara and Gbajabiamila who was the choice of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains for the speakership position, as part of attempts to stop the crisis currently surrounding the election of the House leadership.
It meanwhile turned out that Nigeria’s leader only met with the Gbajabiamila group.
The Speaker debunked the reports in a comment by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Turaki Adamu Hassan.
Dogara asserted that he was not invited to any meeting.
He said: “Attention of the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives has been drawn to some news reports about a purported meeting between Mr. Speaker, the President and some members of the House under the platform of the APC.”
“We wish to make it abundantly clear that there was never a time the Speaker was invited for a meeting with the president on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.”
