President Muhammadu Buhari has cleared the controversy over the appointment of Musa Laura as the new Director General (DG) of the State Security Services (SSS).
Reports had surfaced Thursday, July 2, that the president sacked the former DG, Ita Ekpeyong over partisanship and appointed Daura, known to be his kinsman, from retirement.
Sahara Reporters stated according to the Head of Service, Danladi Kifasi, that president Buhari appointed “Lawal Musa Daura as the new Director General Department of State Security Service” with Haruna Imrana, also from the Head of Service office, stating that the appointment was with “immediate effect.”

But the Head of Service has now clarified the president’s stance on the appointment via a statement made public.
He said: “President Muhamadu Buhari has appointed Lawal Musa Daura as the new acting Director General Department of State Security Service.”Daura, who was born in Daura, Katsina state, was once the Deputy Director Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre at the presidential villa, Abuja between 2003 and 2007.
President Buhari has also told the feuding lawmakers loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC), that he will favour the party over the crisis rocking the National Assembly.
