EFCC Denies Arrest Of Jonathan’s Ex-Security Aide

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, July 20, 2015, dismissed media reports that Moses Jitoboh, one-time Aide de Camp (ADC) to former president Goodluck Jonathan has been arrested.

This was disclosed by Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman for the anti-graft agency.

Speaking to newsmen, Uwujaren said there was no truth in the claim.

He said: “It is not true. If indeed he was arrested, it may have been another agency, definitely not the EFCC.”

Moses Jitoboh, also denied reports that he was arrested by officials of the EFCC.

Jitoboh speaking to This Day, said he was at the Presidential Villa on Sunday, July 19, but “left after about 30 minutes,” adding that, “maybe that was where they picked the story.”

Family sources had claimed that EFCC officials arrested Jitoboh Sunday afternoon at the Presidential Villa, and that nothing had been heard of him since.

However, Jitoboh said that his family’s inability to reach him on the telephone was a result of changes he made on his telephone numbers.

Jitoboh served as ADC to former President Jonathan when he was vice and acting President.

He is the third security aide of the former president to face harassment in a week.

It would be recalled that former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki was detained by ‎operatives of the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
Shortly after that Gordon Obuah, the chief security officer (CSO) to former President Jonathan was arrested by the DSS.
