The long arm of the law has finally caught up with suspected fake army recruitment ring who mode in trade was to defraud innocent job seekers of their hard earned money, Daily Independent reports.
They were rounded up by the Nigerian Army and paraded to newsmen. According to the army, they are on the trail of other members of the gang promising that all those involve this scam would be arrested.
The director of army of publicc relations, Col. Sani Usman, on Thursday July 23, name the suspect as one Samuel Omoh Eromosele.
Usman said the suspect defrauded six unsuspecting job seekers of N32,500
He said: “Samuel Omoh Eromosele, on the May 9, 2015, posted an advertisement in the comments section of the website known as ‘www.nigerianbestforum.com’.
“The advert was entitled ‘Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission 2015/2016 online application form’, where he demanded that interested persons should pay N4,500 each, as application fee.
“Consequently, an investigation by the Military Police showed that the suspect, who posed as Balogun Precious Ehi, received N4,500 through his First Bank account and N28,000 through his Fidelity Bank account.
“Shortly before his arrest on July 17, he posed as Precious Ehi and posted an advertisement via another website calling for applications into the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS 2015/2016 batch online.”
The army spokesperson noted that these cyber criminals were dragging the name of the Nigerian Army and other Services to the mud warning that the army would map out new method to track and arrest other fraudsters.
