Chadian military have recorded a new success in the war against deadly Boko Haram sect.
Chadian soldiers are seen sitting atop a pickup truck.
Azem Bermandoa, army spokesperson, made this known, saying that his country’s security forces have slaughtered 117 Boko Haram militants in the last two weeks.
According to Bermandoa islands that the insurgents used as hideouts on Lake Chad were also cleared.
His words: “We killed 117 Boko Haram fighters during the two-week operation. We lost two men and several wounded.”
“We destroyed their boats and seized various weapons during the operation.”
Chad has located thousands of soldiers to fight the militant sect, whose six-year insurgency has killed thousands in Nigeria and Chad.
Boko Haram has also been targeting the country and neighbouring African countries that are part of the regional force fighting the insurgency.
There had been reports that Boko Haram militants recently slit the throats of 10 fishermen in villages near Baga on the shores of the Lake Chad in northeastern Nigeria.
Until recently, Nigeria has freed very few of Boko Haram’s captives, its army often waiting days to respond to attacks. But that is changing.
It should be also noted that Nigeira’s President Muhammadu Buhari put the end of the insurgency in the top of his electoral promises and tried to do his best in a bid to stop the terrorists.
