APC Govs brace up for Kogi, Bayelsa guber polls

Governors of All Progressives Congress, APC yesterday said that there were ready for the forth-coming governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States.

Rising from a meeting that ended around 12 mid night at the Imo State Governor’s lodge in Abuja on Thursday, the Governors said that their party was now more straightened for the polls.

Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha who briefed Journalists at the end of the meeting on behalf of the Progressives Governors Forum, PGF, stated that the governors were equally happy that peace had eventually returned to the House of Representatives, also hoping that it will be extended to the Senate soon.

He said: “We deliberated on a lot of issues. One is that we have resolved to strengthen our party and prepare for the forth coming especially the ones of Kogi and Bayelsa States.

“We are also very happy about the development in the National Assembly as peace is gradually returning to the national assembly. We are very happy that what has taken place in the federal house will soon take place in the senate and we resolved to make our party bigger and bigger than what it is now. So, we welcome interested parties to join us in building the Nigeria of our dream.”

Asked if the process would affect the Deputy Senate president, Senator Ike Ekwerenmadu of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Okorocha said that “In the process of this process, things will take its natural cause.”

He also said that south east which feels marginalised in the Reps offices will be taken care of.

“The issue of the south east, everything will be resolved in the course of the peace process”, he said.

Meanwhile, the meeting attracted the presence of National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun.

Governors who were present at the meeting included Adams Oshiomole (Edo), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Rauf Arebegsola (Osun) and Kashim Shettima (Borno).

Others are: Samuel Ortom (Benue), Umar Ganduje (Kano), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Senator Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Tanko Al-Makura (Nassarawa), Sani Bello (Niger),the deputy governors of Lagos and Oyo States represented their governors.
