NASS CRISIS: Police sets to interrogate Ekweremadu over….

When would this nightmare stopped? The crisis at National Assembly seems to be waxing stronger every day.

Another shocking development had emerged, as the controversial Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has been summoned by the Nigerian police over alleged forgery of the Senate Rules on election of its principal officers.

The People’s Democratic Party made this known. The party said the Deputy Senate President has been asked to report at the Force Headquarters today Monday, 6th of July.

According the Peoples Democratic Party spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, the arrest of Mr Ekweremadu, is part of the plots of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress to remove him. The leadership of the ruling had never wanted Ekweremadu to be the Deputy Senate President, and they have not been happy since his emergence. The ruling party will use Ekweremadu’s invitation by the Force to get him detained, Metuh added.

However, the Force Headquarters has cleared the air over the issue. The invitation was given to the clerk of the Senate, inviting all the leaders of the senate to a meeting. The purpose of which is to investigate a petition filed by a senator alleging a forgery of the Senate rules and standing orders.

There was nothing like arrest. It was an invitation to a meeting. More so, it is not an individual matter, the invitation was for the leadership of the Senate, the Force stated

Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress, through it National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said it had no hand in the invitation of the deputy Senate President by the Force.
