BREAKING NEWS!! WAEC Releases SSCE, Withholds 118,101 Candidates' Results

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the result of the May/June SSCE examination with 118,101 results of candidates being withheld, Vanguard reports.

Mr. Charles Eguridu, the head of the national office of WAEC disclosed at a press conference in Lagos that the result was out and that 1.5 million students sat for the examination.

”Out of 1,593,442 candidates who sat for the examinations, only 616,370 candidates, representing 38.68% obtained credits in five subjects and above including English Language and Mathematics.”

He noted that it was an improvement from the previous year’s result where only 529,425 representing 31.28 per cent obtained five credits in English and Mathematics..

Eguridu also revealed that the number of states owing WAEC had reduced from 19 to 13.

He said that public school candidates of the affected states would not get their results until their state government paid their registration fees.

He added that the huge debt being owed by the state was crippling the smooth running of the examination body.

Meanwhile, out of 20,631 students who sat for the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) post UTME screening exercise on Saturday, August 8, only 10,338 students passed the 200 mark required to secure admission.
