Buhari Vows To Provide Everything Necessary For The Military

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to provide all the necessary logistics needed for the military to successfully defeat Boko Haram.

It should be recalled that Buhari has recently appointed new service chiefs and gave them a three-month period to deal with terrorism in the country.

According to Vanguard, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), the national security adviser, who spoke on behalf of the presidency while addressing air force officers in Yola, said:

“I am telling you this, and you can take it as if it is coming from Mr President himself that you are going to be given everything you require, not only for the operations but for your personal welfare. This is an assurance I want to give you.”

Air Commodore Dele Alonge, the director of air force public relations, commented on the aim of the NSA visit:

“Against the background of the recent presidential directive to the service chiefs to defeat the Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) group in three-months, the NSA gave the purpose of the operational visit as one to enable his team assess the situation on ground and relate with the troops with a view to adequately identify and address observed challenges facing the troops.”

Monguno praised the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for the improvements in the war against insurgency, having noted the aerial support provided to the ground troops. He also commended the patriotic staff and urged its members to remain resolved in the anti-Boko Haram battle.

Following Buhari’s order to end terrorism in three months, the NAF deployed new aircraft and started heavy bombardment of Sambisa Forest, the notorious hideout of the militants.

Alonge specified in his August 13 statement that technical upgrade and provision of additional platforms in the areas most affected by insurgency were in line with President Buhari’s directive.
