Members of Ipetoro Lowa community in Ogun state have cried out to the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to rescue them from a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Yusuf Akaun, who has been conniving with landgrabbers to oppress them.
The families in this community, who addressed journalists in Lagos, Thursday, noted that they had sent a petition to the IGP over the purported oppression by their brothers over sales of landed properties.
The Orelade and Isanmolu families, while explaining what transpired between both families the complainants noted that they (Kasali family, an extension of their families) had sold a large chunk of landed properties, about 700 acres out of a portion belonging to all of them.
Having discovered this, the Orelade and Isanmolu family members decided to sell about 112 acres to Omolamina Global Ventures.
But, to their surprise, the Kasali faction of their family started conniving with police officers to oppress them and send them out of their family houses, on the allegation of landgrabbing.
“We also gathered that Sheriff, son of the retired DIG, was the police officer being employed to perpetrate this evil acts.
“We are not landgrabbers, the portions of the land that we sold rightfully belongs to us, as they also had the exclusive rights to seel their part of the landed properties.
“Our client, Omolamina Global Ventures did not also forcefully assume ownership of the community under dispute.
“That is the more reason we need the Inspector General of Police to use his good office to call his men to order, especially the retired DIG, who we learnt has also been using his son against us,” Chief Adamson Orelade said.
Chief Shamusideen Isanmolu, a representative of the Isanmolu branch of the family, also noted that the CSP Adesina has to be called to order alongside other officers that he has been using to perpetrate the evil acts.
The petition demanded as follows: “that our clients’ petition dated 11th day of May, 2015, investigation by officers and men at Federal SARS, Abuja, Nigeria against the aforementioned persons be continued forthwith.
“That CSP Adesina be investigated and dismissed forthwith from Nigeria Police Force.
“(1) Sheriff Akaun (2) Retired DIG Usman Akaun and (3) the aforementioned suspects in the petition dated 11th day of May, 2015 be investigated and be brought to book accordingly.”
Recall that an alleged landgrabber asked governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state to be careful with the order he gave on the recovery of landed properties.
