The Rivers state governor, Nyesom WIke has appointed 12 permanent secretaries into the state civil service.
In a statement signed by Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah, the special adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Governor Wike will swear in the appointed persons on August 7 by 12 noon, at the executive council chambers of government house in Port-Harcourt, PM News reports.
Among those who made the list are seven men and five women.
The new appointees are; Dr. Adolphus Nweke from Etche local government; Mrs. Abiye Tobin-West from Asari/Toru; Dr. Nkor Felix, Gokana LGA, James Enebeli of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni; Anthony Nweyilobu, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and Sir Alawari Ndu, of Obio/Akpor.
Others are Dr Agiriye Harry, Degema LGA; Mrs Caroline Wali of Obio/Akpor; Felix Odungweru of Port Harcourt LGA; Dame Josephine Chukwuigwe of Ikwerre LGA; Mrs Helen Peter of Ogu/Bolo LGA and Mrs Florence Fiberesima, Okrika LGA.
Fiberesima had earlier been appointed by the governor to serve as secretary of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry recently inaugurated to probe former Governor Chibuike Amaechi of alleged corruption charges, while her husband was a few weeks ago appointed the General Manager of Radio Rivers.
About a week ago, reports had surfaced that Wike spent over N14million in less than 24 hours, when he redeemed his pledge to players of the Dream Team. Wike was said to have promised the players $30,000 for every goal and $100,000 for a 3-0 win, but he addressed the players and officials at a reception hosted for the team and handed over $60,000 and expressed joy that the U-23s played some of the best football he has seen in years.
