I’m Not Running From EFCC: Jonathan’s Aide, Kuku Shares PHOTOS Of His Surgery

Former presidential adviser on program for the Niger Delta militants, Kingsley Kuku, has denied running away from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which recently invited him for questioning.

Kuku, who is currently receiving medical treatment in St. Andrew Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama, shared photos of his successful knee operation.

According to the former presidential aide, he had no reason to be on the run, saying he was a patriotic Nigerian, The Cable reports.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by him on Sunday, August 2.

He said: “I am a patriotic Nigerian; I have future and image to protect. Therefore,
my integrity is more important to me than vanity of this world. The total liberation of my people of Niger Delta from poverty, unemployment, backwardness and illiteracy motivated me to design a program that will empower our youth.

“Today, Amnesty project has trained pilots as we have sent our students to the best aviation school in the world. We have about 100 students in Lufthansa training school in Germany.

“In addition, we have about 550 students in the United States, more than 300 in Europe and more than 1000 in Nigeria.”

The surgical operation carried out yesterday on Kuku was successful

Kuku stated that he left N5.3 billion in the account of the amnesty programme and has since returned all government properties in his possession, including his diplomatic passport before leaving office.

He said that he had no foreign bank account neither does he have a house anywhere apart from Nigeria.

“I have no regret serving Nigeria under former president Goodluck Jonathan. As human being, we must have made some mistakes in course of discharging our duty‎,” the former presidential aide added.

Kuku therefore, called on the new coordinator of the amnesty programme to take human audit and balance it with what was allocated to the agency so as to draw a line between the frivolous and malicious petition been sent around.

Since Jonathan left office two months ago, some of his aides have been summoned by the anti-corruption agency for questioning.

The EFCC had invited Kuku to answer allegations on conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and diversion of public funds in a letter with ref: CR 3000/EFCC/ABJ/EG/T7/vol.25/263 and dated July 22, 2015.

In response, Kuku had said he was currently in the US undergoing a surgery operation on his knee, and that he would answer the invitation in September when he recuperates.
