Seriake Dickson’s Aide Dumps PDP For APC

An aide of the Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson, has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for the opposition, All Progressive Congress (APC).

The aide, Prince Ebitemi Amgbare, who is the General Manager of Bayelsa State Transport Authority also resigned his appointment to formally decamp to the APC. According to National Mirror, he said his political future is not tied to Governor Dickson or Alamieyeiseigha.

“I am convinced that the APC is where my political future is in Bayelsa. Alamieyeiseigha took me to defunct AC and left me there. It is time a father does his own thing and the son does what is right for his political future” the report quoted him.

He said he decided to return to the APC because of a personal decision and dismissed the insinuations that he may not find sound footing within the APC due to past relationship with Chief Sylva and his relationship with Alamieyeiseigha. He said his relationship with former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva remains cordial and filled with mutual respect.

“I recognise him as the leader of the APC in Bayelsa and he should also recognize that the role I played during the events that led to the annulment of his election was due to party loyalty.

“Sylva was also loyal to the APC that was why he joined forces with the progressives and sack the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. My party at that time, the AC used the various election petitions, including mine against Sylva, as a test case to prove that the former Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, boss, Muarice Iwu, was not fit to head the commission. It was those court decisions, including the annulment of Sylva’s election that led to the removal of Iwu and the coming of Professor Attahiru Jega,”  he said.

Hon. Amgbare, was the flag bearer of the defunct Action Congress, AC, during the 2007 gubernatorial poll in the state.

Seriake Dickson, who allegedly paid close to N100 million to an Italian firm, Hacking Team to hack mobile devices and computers of Nigerians is currently under investigation by the office of the National Security Adviser for allegedly forging sensitive national documents in the process of buying hacking solutions for the Italian firm.
