Fuel Scarcity: Ex-Governor Slams President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has continued to face the heat following the fuel crisis that has grounded the nation’s economy.

Adding his voice to the bandwagon of critics, a former governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, has expressed his disgust for the outgoing president.

According to him, Jonathan’s silence on the recent fuel shortage stamps the fact that another 4 years would have been too disastrous for the nation if he had won the March 28 election, Daily Sun reports.

Adebayo stressed that the Federal Government led by Jonathan failed to move the nation forward.

According to him, “It is obvious by what is going on that if the PDP were to remain in power, honestly, it would have been too disastrous for this country. I believe the only thing that has made people to exercise patience and not take to the streets since all these days, was because they know that come Friday, a new government will take over. And that is what is giving people hope.”

“The president has shown lack of respect for the people, who he claims to love. If you are leaving government and at the time you are leaving, you begin to sack people and appoint new ones, that means you just want to create problems for the incoming administration,” he said.

He noted that if Jonathan had been given second term, the hardship being faced by the people would have been the beginning of total destruction of the nation’s economy.

Adebayo however tasked the incoming administration of Muhammadu Buhari to do a complete review of damages done to the country by the PDP, with a view to making corrections.

The ongoing fuel scarcity is one of the worst to hit Nigeria in recent years as Nigerians are left queuing at petrol stations for hours all in a bid to get fuel.
