Fuel Scarcity Paralyses Lagos State... SEE PHOTOS

The ongoing fuel scarcity is one of the worst to hit Nigeria in recent years as Nigerians are left queuing at petrol stations for hours all to no avail.
In recent days we have seen banks shut down, radio stations stop broadcasting, flights cancelled, shops locked and top conglomerates join the list of companies in Nigeria groaning under the current scarcity of diesel and other petroleum products.
The appalling situation has left many Nigerians to spend all day at the filling station and resorting to desperate measures all in a bid to get fuel.

In this regard, traffic plays a pivotal role in the citizens’ everyday lives, with Lagos state being hit the most by this ravaging crisis.

But despite the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria finally reaching an agreement with the government to begin supplying the country with much needed petroleum products, queues at filling stations have continued to persist.

Following a statement by Ifeanyi Ubah, the managing director of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, promising to ease the suffering of Nigerians by releasing about 13 million litres, it is reported that officials of the Nigerian army have taken over the Ojodu Berger outlet of Capital Oil, buying petroleum products in drums after they had scared away thousands of prospective consumers.

Chat212 visited the Capital Oil filling station along Lagos Ibadan express way today to capture the scene as Nigerians are left in anguish all in a bid to get fuel.

The disturbing fuel scarcity is an aftermath of a dispute between the government and fuel marketers and transporters over unpaid bills of $1 billion. It was reported that since October 2014 the difference between the real cost of products and the fuel price subsidised by the outgoing Jonathan government has remained unpaid.

Feel free to share with us the situation in your area.
