New acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees received congratulations from the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
The statement was issued on May 26, Tuesday, by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.
The party said Haliru Mohammed as former Acting National Chairman and former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP
is adequately equipped to serve at this level in directing the ship of the BoT in the overall quest to remake and reposition the party at this point in time.
The statement reads: “The National Working Committee assured that it would work hand-in-hand with the Board of Trustees and other key stakeholders in stabilizing and reengineering the party to restore its preeminence in the polity.
“While soliciting for the support of all members in this direction, the leadership also assured of its determination to instill internal democracy, strict adherence to rules, zero tolerance for indiscipline, while upholding the supremacy of the party and its constitution at all times.”
Meanwhile, the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, who was speculated for this position, has denied the PDP’s offer for him to become the new chairman of the Board of Trustees.
It should be noted that Haliru Mohammed Bello was appointed yesterday, May 25.
