APC Blasts Governor Wike Over Amaechi’s Projects
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said on Monday, September 7, that he was running a prudent administration and managing the state’s resources well.
According to The Nation, the governor who conducted reporters round some projects his administration was executing in parts of the state said he was being sensibly careful in administering his duty.
Wike said that the decision for his administration to first complete the projects started by his predecessor was for the benefits and betterments of the residents of Rivers state in order to prevent the notion of abandonment.
The governor who is a former chief of staff and director-general of the former governor’s campaign organisation in 2011, gave the assurance that in line with the completion of old projects, he would also start new ones.
However, the chairman of the state All Progressives Congress, Chief Davies Ikanya, in a statement in Port Harcourt, the state capital said that Governor Wike betrayed his benefactor and former boss, Rotimi Amaechi.
Ikanya stated this through his senior special assistant on media and public affairs, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, saying that the governor spread falsehood and propaganda in his 100 days in office.
The party chairman accused the governor of wasting over N120 billion since assuming office.
Meanwhile, witnesses had last week told the Rivers state governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja that the April 11, governorship election conducted in the state did not hold in some polling units.
The witnesses testified before the tribunal during a cross-examination carried out by the counsels to Independent National Electoral Commission, Governor Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party.
There have been reports that Amaechi, alongside other former governors are being investigated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission. But the former governor has said no anti-corruption agency in the country can probe him.
