Ezeife Assult President Buhari Of Dictatorship Government

A former governor of Anambra state in the Third Republic, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of ruling like a dictator.

Ezeife said based on Buhari’s appointments since he came into power, his loyalty lies with the people of the North as they have majority of the appointments, The Punch reports.

According to him, the president’s inaugural statement, “I belong to no one and belong to everyone”, had raised the hopes of Nigerians.

But with what Nigerians have seen so far, in the light of his 100 days in office, he seems to belong to the North only and not to Nigeria.

“The bulk of allocations went to the North-West. Again, the bulk of his appointments have gone to the North-West. Meanwhile, the South-East has got not one appointment and 30 appointments have been made,” he said.

The former governor noted that Buhari’s appointments suggests that the South-East is no longer wanted in Nigeria, adding that there was no remedy to the situation with the office of the SGF gone, except to withdraw the appointment.

Speaking on the president’s anti-corruption war, Ezeife said he could be scored 50 per cent because he hasn’t done something systematic and has been clear in his fight against corruption.

According to the ex-governor, Buhari’s major failure was the inexistence of a Federal Executive Council.

He explained that the constitution recognises the president working through the council and there was no place in the law for dictatorial behavior.

Some time in August, Ezeife had said that the appointment of Ibe Kachikwu as the managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is an insufficient move for President Buhari to prove his loyalty to the Igbo people.

In reaction, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, who is the convener of the coalition of northern politicians, academics, professionals and businessmen, criticised Ezeife’s stance, insisting that the Igbos have enjoyed favourable treatment.
