The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) have finally unveiled Sunday Oliseh as coach of the Super Eagles. The press conference unveiling the new coach was held in the Trans Corp hotel in Abuja.
In the press conference, the new coach downplayed being the messiah for the new eagles while NFF president, Amaju Pinnick was quick to extol the new appointee.
Pinnick said: “We have just signed the Pep Guardiola of Africa. And I believe he will succeed. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure Oliseh succeeds. We will give him 100% support.”
Oliseh, meanwhile said: “It’s a great honour to be coach of this great Nation.”
He continued: “I’m not coming as a messiah. I’m coming as a man who wants to serve his country and give 150%. Gone are the days when we had individual players who can win games on their own. But we have potential.”
“No player outside of first division in Nigeria or elsewhere will play for Super Eagles. We will work together with tech committee. Because if we fail, they fail. If you judge Sunday from the past, you’ll be making a big mistake. We have all matured,” he said.
Pinnick added: “Oliseh will be paid 3 months wages in advance. Meaning the next time we will have to pay him is October”
