PDP STRIKE Buhari, Osinbajo over salary cut….you need to know why
Following the 50% salary cut of President Muhammodu Buhari and his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osibajo, the Peoples Democratic Party had told the President and his deputy that the salary slash is not enough but they should strive to fulfill all their campaign promises.
The Peoples Democratic Party, which spoke through it National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said Nigerians expect more than the salary cut from them. According to his statement, the salaries of both the President and his deputy is nothing compared to their personal allowances and privileges.
Mr. Metuh, while commending the President on the rejection of bulletproof cars worth over N400m, he said his party PDP, appreciated the decision of the President, but assured the President that Nigerians would not be carried away with that gesture.
According to him, the drama of 50% salary cut and rejection of N400m official cars, were done just to gain cheap popularity. He said that, the All Progressive Congress, APC has been over celebrating the achievements of the Federal Government, telling Nigeria that the government is on course, but the fact is that, this administration is yet locate its bearing.
Metuh however warned Buhari and his party against celebrating cosmetic governance and premature claims of victory against insurgency, but they should rather face the real business of governance.
It would be recalled that President Buhari had rejected a proposal of N400M cars for his official use. The President said he would continue to use the cars left behind by the past administration.
